SAMSUNG Q80T TV REVIEW ||THE ULTIMATE GUIDE FOR THIS TV

 SAMSUNG Q80T TV:

Entry-level 4K TVs are making a big splash, everyone is moving from Full HD to one of these, that are hitting the market at very affordable prices. Only if you already have one of these, you may be keeping an eye on one with more features and a better quality. If the cheapest 4K panel is bursting with light for you, there are two options: QLED or OLED. And OLED you know, it has that incredible blacks, it’s thin, but it can have burn-in. And the QLED, is it a good option? Is it as good as OLED? Check out our review of the Samsung Q80T to draw your conclusions, here .

SAMSUNG Q80T TV:DESIGN

Because it is not an OLED, it cannot be very thin, and it ends up looking like the less expensive ones of the brand. The bezels are small, it has a thin plastic frame with 9 millimeters. Below, an area for the Samsung logo that also houses an extra control button in case you lose the remote control – and a brightness sensor. There are not many details and it manages to disappear well into the environment. The base is a single foot in metal, different from the more economical models in that they are two fork feet. It is a wide foot, which is fixed with several screws – different from the cheaper model, the TU8000 that she just needs to fit her feet under it, and we even have this analysis here if you didn’t see it, you can click here on the white ball that will appear, and what else … but it rocks a lot when you shake it because it has that one foot, despite having lots of screws. The rear is similar to the rest of the 2020 line, plastic with line finishing formed by polka dots, but still, it is less rounded than the cheaper models, which ends up giving her an air of more elegance.

SAMSUNG Q80T TV:FEATURES

The sound output is at the top and the rails at the bottom. These gutters are cool – you run the power cable and also the cables you connect to the TV. They are rails of different sizes for passing cables of different calibers, but thinner cables like antennas, they will end up getting loose. Behind the base, you can detach the plastic cover that covers it and concentrate all the cables and wires you have, plugging it all in again later. Cables are more organized and are still hidden. It is as thin as the TU8000, which we have already analyzed here, it is 5.6 cm in the widest part in the middle. Without the base, she is almost 19 kg – 21 kg with that base, and she is very heavy to carry. It has the VESA 200 standard for you to hang it on panels or on the wall, the connections are all turned To the sides. This side area is sunken and has two 5V USB connections, one 0.5A, and one 1A HDD for you to connect external disks, digital audio, four HDMI, one of which is an eARC, which is a higher bandwidth connection for better audio for you to use soundbars and receivers and one for games – it has a LAN, an AV-IN, and an antenna input.

SAMSUNG Q80T TV:

The system of Samsung TVs is the Tizen, and this TV is in its latest version of 2020. General colors are now darker and less damaging to the eyes, and icons are smaller Being more expensive and with a better processor, it doesn’t have the slow navigation that we usually see in the most economical models. This bottom strip gives you access to the apps you use most, adding, removing, or switching orders installed apps. Some are already installed and have a store offering more, but despite having good things, ends up having a poor offer. Of the few that have, you can say that 80% is very specific, but the main ones are here: YouTube, Prime Video, Netflix, Apple TV, Spotify, Deezer, Globoplay, HBO GO, FOX, Play Movies, Plex, Steam Link, and others. The Ambient Mode function is present in its third version, bringing more options with luminous panels and colorful. With it, you leave your TV on displaying photos, calendar, works of art, and others so that the device looks like a frame. Using your smartphone you can even reproduce your wall on the screen, if it’s uniform and it’s worth remembering that it wastes energy and heats up the TV while it’s working.

And if you have a home with smart items, you’ll like the Q80T to have voice commands. Using a microphone on the remote control you can talk to Alexa or Bixby now without having to press the button. – Alexa, how is the weather today? And yes, you heard what I said, or one or the other – Bixby or Alexa, and Bixby in Portuguese will arrive in the coming months, more or less when it should also arrive Google Assistant, which Samsung promised as yet another voice command option. I chose Alexa because it is in our language and because I have other Amazon devices. You log in to the Amazon service and then, whenever it is on, just press the button or speak directly to her relatively close to the microphone. It has the normal functions of turning on and off lights, informing about weather forecast and schedule but, using the TV, you can also ask to change channels, lower and increase the volume, turn off the device, ask to play something on YouTube and other video and music services, ask questions and stuff – you don’t have an interface just for voice commands, but what you say about the TV appears on the screen.

SAMSUNG Q80T TV:

The control of this Q80T is the same as the less expensive models. It is small, ergonomic, and has many functions. I just didn’t like the fact that I didn’t have the number keyboards, something that can hinder older people and the volume and channel switch buttons I think they are not very practical. Finally, typing on the screen with this control is very tiring. There is now a button and microphone to activate voice control and the www button that was here in the corner, was replaced by a shortcut to Globoplay, in a partnership with Globo. There are also shortcuts to Netflix and Prime Video, which they already had in the previous version. And this is universal control: you can also control other devices, such as the cable TV set-top box, including changing channels, accessing a guide to others. And in addition to the control, you can also play on the TV via SmartThings, which is an application of Samsung’s smart devices.

SmartThings is free and works on any cell phone brand but some functions are exclusive from Samsung to Samsung. If you already have the app installed when you turn on the TV for the first time, the app will practically configure everything for you – if you come from another Samsung SmartTV and already have a Samsung account, you won’t need to do practically anything, the app already has the WiFi password, log in to Spotify, and other settings. I didn’t need to touch almost anything. It also sometimes works to control the TV, an even more complete solution than what comes in the box. If you want to turn off the TV in another room, or away from home, you can do so. Change the volume, change the channel, change the input, everything can be done by the application. In functions exclusive to Samsung devices, you can easily mirror what’s on the screen of your smartphone – but finally, after some time, not even mirroring through the app wanted to work more, and right there reinstalling everything or disconnecting the phone from the TV and everything, these things have been corrected. I was able to easily mirror later using the SmartView function from Samsung’s cell phone, but I couldn’t get through the app anymore.

SAMSUNG Q80T TV:PANEL

A great function if, for example, you are watching a game or something and you need to go to the bathroom and you don’t want to miss what’s happening on TV. This TV comes with AirPlay support, this allows you to stream content from iPads, iPods and Apple computers to the TV very easily. When you mirror something from the smartphone you open the multi-view, which leaves the content of the phone and the TV on the screen, next to each other, which is a really cool feature. You can also let this show up via PiP and also mirror computers and show and show some compatible security cameras. With tap view and tap sound you can touch your phone to the top right corner of the TV and it mirrors the image and audio instantly on the screen but you need to hit a very specific position, and I couldn’t make it work no way. This is an intermediate TV, but it has good improvements over devices that cost less and already answering what everyone wants to know, she has something in which she overcomes an OLED but deep black, infinite contrast, and intense colors are not comparable.

QLED has a better refinement when letting the light from the LEDs pass, it does it in an improved way and more neat, achieving more brightness and more faithful colors for the images. It’s like an improved LCD or LED, but still, it’s an LED panel so she doesn’t get that deep blacks, although she has no problems with burn-in and last a lot longer. The uniformity of the colors on the screen is decent, although the edges are a little bit darker than the rest. We have a VA panel here, and this makes the Q80T have an angle of view that is not excellent, but that it can have a better response to games and also better contrast. To improve the viewing angle Samsung put more layers on the TV and called Ultra Viewing Angle reducing image leakage – it was not incredible, but it has already improved a lot for an LED TV. These layers also help the TV to have a much lower light reflection. It’s a less dull screen, but it can have less interference from light sources, even better for bright environments than an OLED. The contrast is no better than last year’s edition, but we still have the local dimming full array type, when the TV is able to turn off areas of the LED panel behind it to improve the details in dark scenes and not burst the light so much. This is a TV that runs at 120Hz, which makes images more fluid, and in addition to having a time the optimal response, there are ways like Film that reduce the Hz rate and make the image clearer but only on TV connections, you cannot do this in streaming. In addition, one of the HDMI connections, the one with a gamepad symbol, is 4K at 120Hz, it’s an HDMI 2.1 – this, together with Game Mode, decreases the screen response time and activates some functions extras to improve the image, including optimizing light exposure in the darkest scenes.

The input lag can reach 5.3 ms on this HDMI input, which is an excellent number. Upscaling is also very good, displaying lower quality content with almost no artifacts. It also supports AMD’s FreeSync, which with compatible platforms equalizes the console and the screen, for example in the case of Xbox One, to act on the same frequencies and this is also a screen that has a variable frequency. In apps, it has SteamLink, which helps a lot of people who have games on this service and mirrors wirelessly very well. It is also HDR10+ for you to watch some content from Netflix or YouTube, for example, with more intense colors and more volume, but unfortunately, it doesn’t have Dolby Vision. Smart Mode adapts various aspects of the image and sound according to what you use using artificial intelligence and the brightness sensor it has. The sound is well balanced, some bass is missing but this is normal for TVs and you can complement that, if you want, with a soundbar or home theater but the volume is very good and you can even be without these peripherals. It is 2.2 audio, meaning two speakers and two subwoofers, which total 60-watt RMS which is a great number. Samsung says the Q80T has spatial sound, which changes the audio location depending on the image where the sound is coming from, where the sound is being made in the image, and sometimes you can even see it but in general, her audio is very good.It has Bluetooth 4.2, and with it, you can connect your TV to wireless speakers, wireless home theater, and even wireless headphones.

SAMSUNG Q80T TV:PRICE

As I said, the Q80T, she is an intermediary, she is not committed to being a work of art in your room but in addition to the system news that the cheaper T8000 brought, it also has a quality A more robust image and super interesting sound. This tested model is the 55 “model and its average price is already around $ 400.

SAMSUNG Q80T TV:CONCLUSION

It is balanced, it has nothing neither too bad nor excellent, and it has many functions including smart and for those who like to play. It is good for bright and even a little noisier environments. So, did you like this TV? Would you trade the one you have for her to gain more image and sound? We want to know!
