ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: NO PREMIUM, BUT one is BETTER | COMPARISON

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T:

The monstrously high dollar is a reality, and this has impacted the price of imported cell phones causing many to turn to the national market again. And incredible as it may seem, the launches are still coming here, some of them even with a price kind of interesting, like the Huawei Nova 5T. Its specifications and price, at the time, reminded us of another cell phone that has been here for few months, which is the ASUS Zenfone 6. At its launch, the Zenfone 6 pleased with its cost-benefit and now the new 5T, the last device from Huawei to feature Google Play Services, arrives as another alternative outside the option of the most famous like Samsung, Motorola, and Xiaomi. Want to see how they did side by side? Want to know who brings you the best features and the best choice for you? So follow now here .

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: DESIGN

With the Zenfone 6 ASUS bets on a slightly more original look while the Nova 5T follows that very similar path that we see on many other smartphones What draws the most attention is the position of the cameras. At the rear, Huawei follows that pattern of traffic light-shaped cameras, with a hole in the front to avoid the notch. ASUS adopts the peculiar rotating camera and this makes them much closer to the top edge in the back and add to the front – in the visual, they can have discreet or more striking colors working with a gradient in the case of Zenfone or holograms on Huawei. The latter also has its different things, so it has a light sensor and a proximity sensor that are at the top, as well as the biometrics are on the side. In Zenfone 6 biometrics is the very traditional one, which is at the rear, and the sensors of the two devices are very fast. This ASUS also features an extra button that can be configured for several features. Both have a metal body, with a glass back, with Gorilla Glass 3 on the Zenfone. None of them have a hybrid slot, even though it is dual-SIM, but the Nova 5T also doesn’t have the slot for the MicroSD. They also don’t have any protection against water or dust and the Zenfone is bigger heavier and thicker than its competitor, even though the screen is a little bigger. The Nova 5T is well built but the Zenfone 6 is neater and keeps that first point.

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: SCREEN

The screen shows in both where there was a cut of expenses to make these smartphones cheaper. In addition to the lack of IP protection, the two displays are IPS LCD with Full HD definition and the same proportion of 19.5:9. Screen usage and pixel density is about the same and they differ slightly in size. The larger Zenfone 6 has a 6.4 “screen versus a 6.26” screen for the Nova 5T. ASUS has the advantage of Gorilla Glass 6 in the front, while Huawei has had nothing informed. In brightness, neither is a highlight, they are just average, not the best solution under the sun. In contrast, the Nova 5T is going to win and has better blacks than its rival, so for that last detail, the point is with the Huawei Nov 5T.

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: SOUND

In sound, it is very difficult for us not to have a point for the Zenfone 6 – in addition to activating its top speaker along with the bottom and make this a stereo smartphone, ASUS took advantage of the thicker phone and maintained the P2 connection. These are two features that are not present in the Nova 5T. In external sound, the Zenfone 6 stereo brings good quality and good volume. The mono speaker at the bottom of Huawei is good, but it doesn’t have as much power and it distorts more easily when we increase the volume. In headphones, those from ASUS are good and have a very high volume, being the classic in-ear. The ones on the Nova 5T are more similar to the Apple style and despite having a decent sound quality, they don’t match the competitor’s quality of that comparison. The point, of course, is for the Zenfone 6.

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: FEATURES

In the system, although we have two Androids facing each other here, the interfaces are different. On the one hand, Zen UI, which after many years being considered heavy, took resources and became lighter and more fluid, running well on the Zenfone 6. On the other side, we have EMUI, the interface of Huawei, working hard with usability on big screens like Samsung. Overall, the two manufacturers boast functions that use artificial intelligence to improve device performance and battery life. Zen UI looks more like Google’s Android, while EMUI is more modified like Xiaomi’s MIUI. Both arrive at the factory with Android 9 Pie and can now be upgraded to the latest version of the system which is Android 10. There is no high probability that neither will move to Android 11 and Huawei still has those issues with using Google’s feature, which can make the situation worse. In connections, both the Zenfone 6 and the Nova 5T are well updated with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in their most popular versions and full GPS – they still come with NFC and the Zenfone 6 does a little better for bringing the FM radio thanks to the P2 connection still present. Finally, they tie in the system and features.

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: SPECS

Although these two devices are not featured among the top of the line with Samsung, Apple and even Huawei’s P30 line, for example, both feature flagship hardware.ASUS put on the Zenfone the Snapdragon 855 chipset and RAM ranging from 6 GB to 12 GB. Huawei also brought its most powerful set of last year to the Nova 5T and has the Kirin 980, accompanied by 6 GB to 8 GB of RAM. Zenfone’s storage ranges from 64 to 256 GB plus MicroSD, while the Nova 5T brings only the version 128 GB here, without a memory card. In benchmark results the Zenfone 6 does remarkably better, being 30% higher than its rival. In our standardized aperture tests, we still have an advantage of the ASUS phone, but it is a minor difference of just over 10%. These tests reveal that ASUS needs to improve in RAM while Huawei lacks the optimization next to the system – but neither of them can hit head-on, as I said, with other line tops from Huawei itself, Samsung and Xiaomi, for example. There is a Performance Mode in the Nova 5T, where it gets closer to the Zenfone but it’s also a mode that it uses more battery and heats up the device more, so it doesn’t do much good. Neither of them heats up a lot under heavy use, as in games, and in this regard, the two do very well, smoothly running any chosen title.

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: BATTERY

The point is with the Zenfone 6, as expected. When at launch, one of the biggest highlights of the Zenfone 6 was its huge battery 5,000 mAh, the Nova 5T being a 3,750 mAh battery, which is good but not huge, we can already have an idea of the results here. The Zenfone 6 reaches almost 23 hours of autonomy in our tests, with almost 11 hours of screen. Huawei, like ASUS, has enough charge to stay out of the power all day but almost 17 hours of autonomy and almost 9 hours of screen time. The scale leans towards the Nova 5T when it comes to charging, with a smaller battery and a faster 22.5-watt charger, it reaches 100% in 1 hour and 17 minutes The Zenfone 6, with its 18-Watt charger, needs 2 long hours and a half to get out of the socket. ASUS still brings reverse charging to other smartphones via cable, but none of them have wireless charging to save on the final cost. And that point is also with the ASUS Zenfone 6. Just look at the back of these devices and an important detail will appear.

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: CAMERA

The camera set of the Nova 5T is bigger and more versatile, while ASUS bet on this double set with the flip, which has enormous mechanical resistance. So, let’s go to the data: the Zenfone 6 has a 48 MP main wide with f / 1.8 aperture, PDAF and autofocus laser and an ultra-wide 13 MP. The Nova 5T has a 48 MP f / 1.8 aperture, PDAF, a 16 MP ultra-wide a 2 MP macro and a 2 MP depth sensor as well. In general, only the macro allows different photos, which must be at least 4 cm away from the object. On its side, the Zenfone 6 allows you to adjust the tilt of the camera. Because it has the depth sensor, Huawei better-cropped photos with Portrait Mode. Both have photos in open environments very close to other tops of the line, including the most prominent Samsung and the two stumble a bit in photos with the wide-angle, which loses details by exaggerating the colors. The photos are very interesting in both, but you can see that the Zenfone 6 does better in detail mainly indoors, and even against the light it has a good balance between brightness and contrast. For less light situations indoors, the best solution is the Nova 5T Night Mode that works really well. Already in standard conditions of low light, like, outside the home, outdoors, the Zenfone 6 excels a little better, although both deliver very grainy images. They tie in the main camera. In the video, it is the Zenfone 6 that appeals most. Besides being the only one who shoots at 60 fps when it’s in 4K quality, it keeps the electronic stabilization in that quality working which leads to less shaking with good quality. And because it’s a moving camera, it can follow an object or person that you select. The Nova 5T has good audio capture, like its rival, and also keeps stabilization always on but it doesn’t bring 60 fps in 4K. The overall quality of the footage is good but lower than that of the photos and the focus is slow so, that video point stays with the Zenfone 6. Finally, in selfies, we have two good competitors. While the Zenfone 6 brings the same 48 MP of the ultra-wide camera to the front with the flip camera, the Nova 5T features a 32 MP camera, with impressive results for the whole Still, the Zenfone 6’s general camera also records at 4K at 60 fps with the front module and even has a dual flash. The details of these captures are very good, although different from when we capture with the rear. The final point of the photos is the Zenfone 6.

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: PRICES

At the launch of Zenfone 6 here in Brazil, in the second half, ASUS brought it at an aggressive price R$ 2,700, while Huawei appeared with an initial value of R $ 3,000. Taking into account the different dollar price, the two arrived until well priced. Currently, the price of both is very similar, and in some places, the Nova 5T already has a discount of R $ 300 and it also brings us a gift, the Huawei smart bracelet. The Zenfone 6 had a little drop in price and can reach R$ 100 less than the launch of the Chinese. On the whole, however, the Zenfone 6 takes the point and is more cost-effective. Yeah, it didn’t work for the Huawei Nova 5T.

ZENFONE 5 vs HUAWEI NOVA 5T: CONCLUSION

In proposal and in resources, it is very similar to the Zenfone 6, but ASUS brought one of its sets best worked and balanced to date. The Nova 5T is very cool and a good alternative for those who want a Huawei phone but you don’t want to spend the still-high price of a P30 Pro, for example. But if you are thinking about cost-effectiveness in a cell phone that is not flagship but does not leave nothing to be desired, besides bringing a huge battery, the most obvious choice is the Zenfone 6. And as I always ask, how about you? Do you think the Nova 5T deserved more credit? Do you think Zenfone 6 is still “holding on” this way? Comment below to let us know what you think!
